1st edition [NAP], 8vo, red cloth / gilt decoration and titles, 123 pages (several pages are unopened), b/w plates, frontispiece of Charles Sprague Sargent. Condition: VERY GOOD- / no jacket: book has light rubbing to board edges, spine extremities and corners, small stain on front cover, a tiny spot on spine with the spine slightly sunned and gilt is dulled, internally clean and tight with only a few pencilled notations on the front endpaper. The Arnold Arboretum was founded in 1872 and designed by Frederick Law Olmsted as part of Boston's "Emerald Necklace"; it is a part of Harvard University and located in Jamaica Plain.
