"Francis Hopkinson, best known to history as the designer of the American Flag and a signer of the Declaration of Independence, published in the year 1774, "A Pretty Story." Although written as a children's story with the history of the English colonization of America in allegory, in reality it was political satire presenting the American grievances with England prior to the Revolution."
